Fernandes remains at Valencia
After the failed loan deals to Inter Milan, Portsmouth, and Sporting Lisbon, Portuguese midfielder Manuel Fernandes has returned to Valencia and trained with the team on Tuesday.
Fernandes was paired with Rubén Baraja in midfield during a training session match against the reserves.
English club Portsmouth apparently came in with an offer to take Fernandes on loan for the rest of the season, but Fernandes is reported to have turned down the offer.
Manelele's loan deal to Inter was killed off after the midfielder failed a medical. Inter doctors claimed that Fernandes had inflammed knee ligaments.
Valencia's doctor, Dr. Jorge Capel, later came out and rubbished the reports.
“He is in perfect physical
condition and is medically fit to play football at the highest level.
There is no medical reason to declare he is not fit.”
Fernadnes wanted to leave Los Che for fear of not getting enough playing time. He is desperate to go to the World Cup with Portugal this summer.
